I’m back to using iPhone 8 in 2021!

I can safely categorised myself as an Apple fanboy at this point.

Whenever apple launches a new iPhone or Macbook, I always watch livestream to catch the latest announcements. Last year Apple announced iPhone 12 series, which was by far my favourite lineup, possibly due to squared-off sides and yeah I really love the size of iPhone 12 mini! Hoping to owning one soon!

One thing to note that, in Pakistan Apple do not sell iPhones by itself rather they are brought from middle-eastern countries especially from Dubai. Therefore prices are always way above Apple prices. To get the idea, still at this point, as of 1st June 2021. iPhone mini is 150,000 PKR which is 970$!!

So, I have to look out for alternatives, without breaking my bank and ripping off my pockets.

After owning iPhone XS and XS Max I came to the conclusion that my hands can’t handle big phones. They are too much trouble for so little gain – in speed. I love iPhone’s computational photography of course. It’s best in business but still can’t fathom my day to day struggle with the bigger phone in my hands.

Henceforth, I chose iPhone 8.

My first impression for the phone was way disappointing;( It wasn’t up to the speed of iPhone XS, nor it has looks and charm of iPhone XS. And yes the camera;( two generations old.

Feeling of holding iPhone 8 was completely mixed at start but eventually as days passed I became familiar with the old iPhone feel and functionality. Touch ID against Face ID, Home button against Swipe up gesture. These small things make a lot difference in daily use but overall in the price of only 260$ there really not much to complain.

iPhone 8 is still amazing. Performance is actually respectable, battery is small but liveable, screen isn’t that sharp as OLED but it’s the best looking LCD panel on any phone ever. And most importantly the small footprint! The size of this phone is just painless. If it’s in the pocket it doesn’t take whole pocket. If it’s in my hands my other hand is always free to multitask. So basically it all comes down to daily use and experience. There’s virtually everything iPhone 8 can do which can be done by iPhone XS, and also by iPhone 12 ;)

I’m planning to stick to iPhone 8 for the good part of 2021. And by 2022 InshaAllah I’ll buy iPhone 12 mini or any new iPhone that has the same appeal to it.

Moreover I will add some clicks from my iPhone 8 in the article so whenever in the future I read my own article, these clicks will remind me of the time I’m currently in.
